you must not be trigger-happy when testing stuff like this. You tested
the wrong executable:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src/php/php5/ > ./sapi/cli/php --version
zsh: 8611 segmentation fault ./sapi/cli/php --version
There, no oddity,
