Actually that is probably another discussion, but is the php date function still limited to 13 Dec 1901? Personally I still use the ADOdb date functions http://phplens.com/phpeverywhere/adodb_date_library which goes back to 100AD, and before that if you manage the 2 year date problem. For genealogical data it's also necessary to manage the calendar used which does add to the fun ...
