*Role : Database Developer / Data Modeler*

Data architects work with application development teams and business users
to define the data requirements of each business area and create logical
and physical data models to represent and implement the corresponding data
structures. They evaluate, design, approve, and implement all changes to
existing databases. The data modeling group develops and provides
development teams with policies, standards, and procedures for the
development and operation of databases. Data architects write, maintain,
and publish all database documentation.

*Skills/Experience Required:*
" Five years experience in relational and analytical database design and
development
" Knowledge of data modeling tools, specifically ERwin 8
" Knowledge of relational database technology, specifically DB2, SQL
Server, Oracle, and UDB
" Structured Query Language (SQL) Both Data Definition Language (DDL) and
Data Manipulation Language (DML)
" Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements
" Ability to lead and facilitate design sessions with developers, business
analysts, and users
" Strong presentation skills
" Strong written and verbal communication skills

*Responsibilities:*
Responsibilities of the data architect include:
" Working with business users and business analysts to understand the
business and application requirements
" Developing an understanding of the data what it is, where it comes from,
where it goes, what is done with it
" Translating the identified business requirements into a logical data
model.
" Working with business users and business analysts to develop logical data
model
" Conducting performance tuning on database in development phase
" Reviewing and analyzing all SQL code used in application
" Working with Database Administration to develop and enhance database
standards
" Identifying reusable data stores to eliminate redundant data
" Evaluating, testing, and recommending data-related tools
" Facilitating data modeling sessions
" Developing and documenting definitions for all entities and attributes in
every data model.
" Working with developers and database administrators to transform logical
data model to physical model
" Developing data flow diagrams illustrating system interfaces.
" Defining and enforcing standards for database objects
" Modifying existing data models to support new business requirements
" Maintaining and supporting data modeling tools
" Mapping data elements across various data stores
" Reviewing SQL for compliance with coding and performance standards
" Create DDL scripts for physical implementation of databases
" Perform data quality reviews

Skills/Experience Preferred:
" Knowledge of the Property and Casualty Insurance Industry
" Familiarity with IBM Insurance Information Warehouse
" Proficiency with InfoSphere Data Architect and Business Glossary
" Knowledge of XML and the ACORD Framework and Messaging Service
