Experience working with small to mid-sized companies is ideal – 200-400 users. *Job Description: * This position is part of an application support team and will be primarily supporting the scientific applications in Research (supporting informatics applications). Common duties include client-server application installations, upgrades, monitoring, and troubleshooting. This position encompasses the following responsibilities: • Supporting business internal/external users to resolve application issues, solving functional problems with the applications in a timely matter, and heeding the priorities of the user community. • Installing applications according to established standards and processes to enable execution on Windows and Linux servers, PCs and Macs. • Analyze and troubleshoot technical problems faced by scientists related to vendor and custom software applications. • Follow required procedures to collaborate with other operational IT groups on application related issues (server installations, upgrades and purchases. • Create and update existing support documentation for supported application. *Experience* • 5 years administration of Linux servers, some Oracle or MYSQL databases experience • Experience with installing and configuring custom applications • Experience with command line scripting (Shell, Perl, SQL*Plus, PL SQL) to aid with day-to-day application administration. • Excellent communications and customer service skills are a must. • Proven problem solving/troubleshooting skills; must be adept at troubleshooting and to provide root cause analysis of a problem and provide the necessary remediation steps. • Proven ability to perform required actions to remediate application issues and/or to communicate requirements to infrastructure team when necessary. • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and technologies associated with installation, maintenance, and integration of servers and client/applications in an enterprise environment. Education • BS in Computer Science or equivalent certifications in Windows or Linux administration, and related technologies.
