Position: *Java Lead Programmer*
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 6+months

We are looking for a strong lead programmer. And by lead, I mean someone
who can build applications independently without assistance from others,
but who is knowledgeable enough about Java programming , database
programming, and ORM to be able to explain it to junior programmers in a
way they can understand. Keep in mind the most common reason programmers
fail in our environment (4 so far in the past 3 years) is that they need to
be able to see the business picture as well as being strong programmers in
ALL of the following areas:

1) Web Application development in Java
a) Ability to independently develop from scratch secure business
applications in Java, which means if they don't have a business background
they need to be smart people in general.
b) Ability to quickly generate mockups
c) Ability to build interfaces using a framework, such as
Spring, with annotations and conversation
d) Ability to control sessions at the request, session,
application and conversation levels, etc.
e) Ability to build a workflow (routing back-and-forth among
people while maintaining status of the object) from scratch
f) Ability Import table data into and out of Excel files with
correct formatting (i.e. numbers, text fields, formulas)
g) Ability use and IDE such as Eclipse, debugger, and solve
problems

2) Database skills - ability to build all of the following from
scratch or have solid basic SQL experience and be highly motivated to learn
advanced MySQL SQL on their own.
a) Ability to build databases schema including tables, indexes,
keys and constraints
b) ER Diagrams and schema
c) Use a database IDE (Toad or Aqua Data Studio) efficiently
and effectively
d) Able to create views, stored procedures, develop efficient
queries, and implement keys and indexes
e) Knowledgeable about table locking and when to use it
3) ORM - ability to work with hibernate and library manager such
as maven
4) Smart person who is self-motivated, genuinely interested in
programming
5) Competent at using both Windows and Linux operating systems.
6) Above average ability to communicate in English effectively
and knowledgeable enough to provide coding instructions to other
programmers.

We can't have any more programmers who want to "learn MySQL when they get
here"... they need to already have strong SQL skills. Also, we would prefer
java programmers with experience coding or using J2EE, iText, JBoss, and
web services
