*Location: Ft. Lauderdale, FL Duration: 6+ months*



*Position Summary*

Provides coordination in the planning, administration, monitoring, and
performance optimization of databases.

Performs database tasks including database creation, definition of physical
and logical structures, documentation, definition of operational
guidelines, and data protection.

Ensures accuracy and completeness of data.

Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls.

Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to
database management.

Proposes and implements enhancements that improve the performance and
reliability of database systems.



*Primary Duties / Responsibilities*

*•Create and modify database structure using Data Definition Language (DDL)
statements to create tables and appropriate indices for optimal data
access, as well as database objects such as store procedures, functions,
views, and triggers.*

•Monitor backlog of open tickets and determine trends and opportunities for
improvement.

•Responsible for the day to day administration and availability systems and
applications; proactively seek ways to enhance availability and
administration of systems

•Lead collaboration within own team and across teams, as directed, to meet
project deliverables.

•Follow and influence the company change control process to implement
system and application changes.

•Coordinate with system vendors to resolve issues in a timely manner.

•Ensure 24/7 systems availability and manage critical incidents;
troubleshoot issues to full resolution and provide detailed updates to
management.

•Assist and participate in mentoring team members.

•Document and adhere to Sarbanes Oxley Controls.

•Collaborate with other IT departments to ensure systems are well
integrated within release management.

•Coordinate and perform monthly outage weekend and quarterly disaster
recovery tests.

•Install server-based application software in coordination with server
administrators. Install new software, service packs, upgrades, and fixes.

•Plan, prepare, implement, and test backup and recovery procedures for all
production databases.

•Monitor databases for optimal performance. Reorganizes databases during
scheduled down time. Create indices and manipulate tuning parameters where
needed to enhance performance.

Identify and takes step to resolve poorly-performing queries that require
tuning and/or optimization.

•Calculate and trend database sizes and plan appropriately for growth.
Communicate plans to server administrators.

•Support application development teams and resolve database problems.
Maintain development, test, and production environments.

•Participate in application development life cycle to enforce standards
that represent best practices within database architecture and
implementation.

•Review and create Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) processes
for optimal access and data manipulation methods. Execute and monitor ETL
jobs in production servers.

•Implement and maintain multiple types of replication. Investigate and
resolve issues associated with replication timeouts, errors, and latency.

•Implement periodic security controls. Manage database users and their
appropriate level of permissions.

•Plan, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot multiple types of high
availability techniques such as clustering, database mirroring, hot standby
servers, etc.



*Qualifications (include knowledge, skills, abilities, and related work
experience)*

•Strong  understanding of database development and architecture concepts

*•Strong  understanding of programming skills in developing stored
procedures, functions, triggers and views using T-SQL*

•Advanced proficiency in tuning and optimizing databases including
optimization of stored procedures, triggers, tables, indices and
configuration settings

•*Strong  understanding of backup/ restore options as well as business
continuity processes*

*•Strong  understanding of data modeling concepts and tools*

*•Strong  understanding of database security concepts*

•Must be able to work independently and have a strong team orientation

•Strong verbal and written communication skills

•Complex solving abilities

•Strong analytical and technical skills

•Working knowledge of high availability technologies such as clustering
and/or database mirroring

•Working knowledge of replication setup and maintenance

•Working knowledge of domain database technology

•Database Certification is a plus
