*Position: Application Architect* *Location: Hartford, CT*
*Duration: 6+months* *Functions performed:* Performs Lead Architecture role for complex (high architectural significance involving one or more of the following: new applications, new services, complex integration between applications, products or vendors, significant cross-domain impacts, new databases, new technology, etc.), mission critical projects or programs. Collaborates with Business Analysts to identify impacted Use Cases and determines architectural significance (and priority) for requirements gathering. Produces standard UML models (Use Case Diagram, Component Designs, etc.) that depict the appropriate solutions that align to Enterprise standards, guidelines and strategies. Develops component-based solutions that are flexible, loosely coupled and highly cohesive. Promotes reuse of models and software. Works (collaborates) effectively across technical domains, with Architects and other technical resources. Ensures end-to-end solution (across technical domains) that meets business requirements. Leads technical assessments of vendor products or new technologies. Supports multiple concurrent project assignments. Effectively negotiates delivery dates for all work products with Project Manager. Participates in planning activities with project team providing direction from architecture perspective (technical dependencies, architectural risks, etc.). Ensures alignment to Enterprise standards and guiding principles. Participates in work product inspections for other Architects and provides feedback that provides value. Leads projects toward adoption of appropriate technologies. Identifies risks and issues and recommends effective mitigation strategies. Facilitates solution sessions with all stakeholders effectively. Escalates issues to Architecture Management team as needed. You will act as a mentor and support the project team in developing optimized high quality deliverables. You will be part of a learning culture, where teamwork and collaboration are encouraged, excellence is rewarded, and diversity is respected and valued. *Qualifications:* At least of 10 years of experience in enterprise, application architecture design. Hands on design experience with Enterprise Integration design Patterns, preferably with IBM products. Hands on experience with layer 7, IIB – IBM Integration Bus and Mark logic, specific focus on API design, SOA and Enterprise Data Hub. Technical Understanding of Mobile UI Design Patterns and Mobile Software Design Patterns and Architecture is a plus. Integration experience with Salesforce.com applications is a plus. Knowledge of various technologies such as Java, and .Net. Experience with Mainframe/Cobol is also preferred. Hands on UML and/or Modeling experience using Rational Software Modeler/Architect (RSM/RSA). Experience with Business Process Modeling. Extensive knowledge of architectural patterns and implementations. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including formal presentations for all levels of management combined with strong collaboration/influencing ability. Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). Knowledge of Healthcare, Insurance, and/or Financial services industry. Experience in executing large projects in Global Delivery Model. Experience in Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
