Provide comprehensive analysis ensuring technology designs meet and/or exceed end user requirements. Utilize best-in-class load, stress and analysis tools to model performance in the production environment, recommend and initiate tuning and optimization activities, resolve complex technology bottlenecks, and assist with the diagnosis/resolution of performance and capacity related problems.- Recommends, deploys and documents performance solutions for complex software/hardware/network engineering installations and issues, based upon comprehensive and thoughtful analysis of business goals, objectives, requirements and existing technologies. Independently identifies and recommends robust technology performance solutions utilizing pragmatic judgment, creativity, and in-depth technical knowledge and evaluation that comprehensively meet the needs of the business.- Drives extensive load, scalability, stability, and stress tests utilizing industry standard benchmarks, tools, and custom developed frameworks. Models and simulates user experience and predicts technology performance in the architecture. Creates performance artifacts including deployment information, performance test data, scripts, scenarios, models, forecasts, results and tools. Gathers, analyzes, disseminates, and communicates data (baselines, benchmarks, data maps, models, etc.) to Stakeholders. - Performs complicated, difficult, and independent assignments in the design, detailed configuration, integration and upgrade of existing and future technologies with the technical area of expertise. Responsible for planning, designing, reviewing and approving robust, stable and manageable designs that incorporate a scalable hierarchy. Performs problem diagnosis, initiates problem resolution and provides top tier and ongoing life-cycle support for new technology deployments and upgrades. - Creates and maintains documentation of detailed design documents, diagrams, engineering specifications, build changes, models, troubleshooting and support guides, systems metrics, and overall project information including key deliverables. Responsible for the technical correctness and completeness of engineering designs and artifacts. Ensures that build activities are completed per the approved engineering diagrams for the project. Redirects build activities as needed. Leads efforts to identify and triage bottlenecks, recommends and implements tuning activities, and optimizes large scale inter-related systems performance issues. Assists in the preparation of capacity plans to ensure system performance expectations are met/exceeded.- Collaborates with fellow members of the team ensuring project scoping activities are aligned with Architectural Objectives. Participates with the Architecture and Governance group in the strategic design process to identify performance improvement opportunities. Utilizes performance data and metrics to effectively consult stakeholders/teams on technologies growth, plan upgrades, migrations, optimizations, new implementations, identify and resolve efficiency issues, and to improve overall functionality.-Responsible for the validation and adherence to defined standards. Ensures ongoing improvements align with IT Information Library (ITIL) principles and technology Solution Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) methods.- Manages effective relationships with leadership, team members, vendors, and contractors to deliver robust performance solutions ensuring that service level commitments and project time lines are maintained.- Continuously develops technical subject matter expertise by remaining apprised of Industry trends, the direction of emerging technologies, and their potential value to the business. Effectively presents the value proposition of business appropriate emerging technologies to technology leadership. * Additional Job Details:* *** *Looking for a Performance and Capacity Analyst.* *** NOT looking for someone that has recently been in a Systems Administrator role. *** Summary: Conduct application level and infrastructure level capacity assessments. Ensure that current capacity is optimized. Working with statistical modelling team to forecast out what capacity will be needed using historical data. *IDEAL CANDIDATE**:* They know what commands to pull out of AIX, Windows, and RHEL environments and can correlate that data against the behaviors of an application to model out a capacity plan that can be rolled up. So essentially, they have strong math skills, may have moved up the ranks from being a sys admin to engineer level to almost architect with focus on capacity and performance. *** *TECHNOLOGIES/TOOLS:* Resource should have experience with statistical modeling tools and typical application behaviors (Batch, transactional). *TOP 3 REQUIREMENTS:* A*pplicant will have 7+ years current experience in Capacity Planning and Performance modeling, forecasting, and tuning for Distributed Systems.* This includes understanding what metrics and key performance characteristics should be evaluated in order to conduct capacity planning. Strong Unix, Windows Server, Storage, and Networking skills and demonstrated experience with configuration, maintenance, and tuning of various toolsets and data mining experience is required. Must have in-depth technical knowledge and experience with Solaris, Windows Server, RHEL, X86, AIX, and capacity Planning and Performance metrics. **** INTERVIEW PROCESS*: 1-2 rounds of interviews. Would like to have the interview process completed and a resource selected to start at the beginning of the new year. *ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**:* As a Performance and Capacity Analyst, you will support a variety of platforms, including VMWare, AIX, Windows Server, Hyper-V, Linux, Solaris, .NET, WAS, Tomcat, IIS, SAN tiered storage, and zOS. The ideal candidate will be expected to, provide comprehensive performance/capacity analysis on all Ameriprise system platforms using application performance management and custom capacity management tools (i.e SRM, SCOM, Vcenter, and tools specific to operating systems. Drive development of new processes. The candidate will measure, monitor and report systems capacity usage; create and adjust plans as required based on future demand and historical input. The ideal candidate will analyze and forecast resource consumption by application and resource. Work with development teams and business areas to plan future capacity requirements and hold regular meetings to review usage as well as create, revise, and report any new measurements required to manage mainframe or distributed environments. The candidate will provide drill down reporting for application teams to use in monitoring their application resource usage/performance. Promote involvement of application development teams to make recommended changes that improve program performance. Insure impact of software releases to system performance and resource utilization of distributed and mainframe platforms are acceptable during load testing.
