*Location:* Greater Los Angeles Area, CA *Duration:* Contract (6-18 months) We are searching for two rock star Software Systems Engineers to work for a client of ours in the Greater Los Angeles Area, CA. This is a long term contract assignment, offering an opportunity to work with a big player in the entertainment industry. This position requires a strong knowledge of technical concepts such as Java, C, C++, networking, streaming, and video encoders/decoders; however, there will be no coding involved. The primary responsibility of this position will be to bridge the gap between the technical and business worlds in shaping our clients next generation video delivery platform by contributing technical analysis for end-to-end system requirements, design and interface specifications. *Required:* - Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science or related technical experience - System Engineer experience, preferably in a Consumer Electronics environment - Experience with the software development life cycle; from requirements definition to development, integration and test - Systems-level experience with Linux and/or other multitasking operating systems - Working knowledge of networking and streaming protocols - Experience with development of device drivers or firmware for consumer electronic products - Understanding of cable or satellite broadcast technology (e.g. MPEG, transport streams) - Proven track record of creative problem solving including critical and analytical thinking *Desired:* - Previous development experience in Java, C, and/or C++ - Familiarity with mobile and social media technologies Ideal candidates for this position work well with diverse and cross-functional groups such as marketing, product development, user experience, and software developers to gather requirements and user scenarios for new product features.
