Requirement Overview: Work Location : West Des Moines, IA - 100 % Onsite. Start Date : ASAP Duration : Long Term The role carries responsibility of administration & management of VMware ESXi servers including upgrades, patches, maintenance releases, incidents, DC Migration/Replication and tech alerts. Technical Skills: Installation/configuring ESXi Servers, vSphere Client and vCenter Server. Deploy Virtual Machines and use Clones, Snapshots, templates Present / Assign LUN to ESXi host Creating and Managing Virtual Machines and Templates Creating Clusters for High Availability (HA) and Distributive Resource Scheduling (DRS) and SDRS. Ability to manage vMkernal, vMotion, Alerts and other ESXi configuration. Migrate Physical Servers to Virtual Server using VMware Converter Migrating Virtual Machines using vSphere replication. Good Knowledge into Windows / Linux platforms ITIL Process knowledge Knowledge on physical/virtual/cloud Infrastructure Patch management and security hardening Knowledge of NAS, SAN storage and backup management Centralized Authentication Service (SSO, LDAP) Knowledge on vSphere cloud management and administration tools. Knowledge on vSphere Site Recovery Manager, Long distance vMotion and other DR applications. Core Knowledge on vSphere Standard and Distributed Switch management. Core Knowledge on vSphere Standard and Distributed Switch migration. Proactive network and storage alert management skills. Ability to access vSphere and Storage environment stability and finding issues proactively. Configure CPU, Memory, Storage and Network to VMware vSphere best practise. Core understanding of resource control like CPU, Memory and storage allocation and its usage. Making proper changes to environment as per the utilization and log analysis of CPU, memory, Storage and Network by following proper change management. Knowledge on vSphere replication and data protection. Perform vSphere environment architecture design and implementation. MUST To standardize and stabilize the process. Ensure to follow ITIL framework for management processes Main responsibilities Participation in 24/7 on-call/on-duty support Proven ability to handle several assignments simultaneously Proven ability to manage and work independently Backup configuration using 3rd party tape libraries Proven ability to mentor other VMware and provide technical expertise when necessary Superior proficiency in resolving VMware issues configure and work on DR related activities Participation in the review of processes and recommendations Support of development, test and production database environments. Management and recommendation of upgrades, patches, maintenance releases, incidents, and tech alerts. Recommendation and implementations regarding new features as they become available Establish and monitor corporate standards, including disaster recovery, security, and data retention. Ability to determine and document root cause analysis and corrective action plans. Minimum of 10- 15 years of Core VMware support experience with different versions Experience on VMware vSphere replication appliance management. Experience on vSphere replication troubleshooting and management. Good to have: VMware certification required Thorough knowledge on ITIL framework Team lead experience a plus ITIL Certification Knowledge into VMware vSphere products. To update knowledge in current best practices Exposure to high end clustering & replication Experience : 10 -15 years.
