Developer (.NET) - Application Developer Level 2 The UC Irvine Chancellor
Provost IT team part of the Office of Information Technology department
delivers application, database, and web solutions that assist
executive-level customers streamline operations through online
communication platforms, collaboration tools, and data integrity and
security best practices. The incumbent will work with a small team focused
on developing usable, high-quality, and maintainable applications.



·         Primary responsibilities include working directly with customers
to understand their issues and needs, define changes to production systems,
partner with other developers and designers, iterate through design and
implementation, demo to stakeholders, gather feedback, launch, and
incorporate lessons learned to improve software development process going
forward. *The technology stack includes SQL Server, ASP.NET
<http://ASP.NET> MVC, classic ASP, Visual Basic, Access, HTML, CSS, and
JavaScript.*

·         In an effort to streamline processes, increase efficiency and
provide user-friendly systems, other tools may be considered.

·         Perform comprehensive end-user and technical support to a wide
range of executives, management, and staff members. Engage with clients to
understand scope and criticality of new change requests. Develop training
plans, outlines, and materials for clients. Serve as primary point of
contact after formal training.

·         Act as a liaison for clients to locate the OIT group best
equipped to handle their specific requests. Job Essential Function 1
Percent of Time: 60 APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT Analyze, design, develop, and
test maintainable solutions that meet established team standards and
business requirements using C , ASP.NET MVC, SQL Server, and other
technologies. Participate in an Agile Scrum project management process,
including demos, daily standups, sprint planning, retrospective, and
refinement meetings.

·         Follow team processes and tools to resolve issues and deliver
change requests. Work with the team to establish quality test processes and
define standards of quality. Develop test plans and test new changes prior
to production rollout. Create and maintain well-written and clear
technical, project, and user documentation.

·         Offer suggestions to the team and management on current and
emerging technologies, methods to reduce costs, improve usability, and
reduce effort.

·         Document procedures and application troubleshooting steps as aids
to train team members. Escalate larger client requests to the team for
planning and prioritization.

·         Gather information from clients to share with the team. Create
user stories, define acceptance criteria, and document communication
exchanges using the team project/operations tracking system.

·         Job Essential Function 2 Percent of Time: 40 OPERATIONS, SYSTEM
SUPPORT, AND MAINTENANCE Respond to issues related to systems managed by
the team.

·         Maintain applications and servers with updates and bug fixes.
Communicate and coordinate with internal Office of Information Technology
OIT service providers.

·         Perform comprehensive end-user and technical support to a wide
range of executives, management, and staff members.

·         Engage with clients to understand scope and criticality of new
change requests. Create trouble tickets, user stories, acceptance criteria,
and other documentation using the team project tracking systems.

·         Provide excellent customer service and keep clients informed of
status and resolution plan.

·         Ensure assigned tasks are delivered on time and meet team quality
standards. Develop training plans, outlines, and materials for clients.
Serve as primary point of contact after formal training.

·         Act as a liaison for clients to locate the
