The mission of the John Hick Centre for Philosophy of Religion
(http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/activity/philosophyofreligion/index.aspx)
is to foster excellence in teaching and research in the philosophy
of religion from a global perspective. The Centre is located in the
School of Philosophy, Theology and Religion and is dedicated to
promote critical thinking about the metaphysical, epistemological
and moral questions concerning religion, belief, and reality.

The Centre proposes to appoint 4 short-term William Paton Visiting
Fellowships - 2 during the Spring 2013 (starting anytime between
Jan 7th and 22nd March, 2013) and 2 during Autumn 2013 (starting on
30th Sept. 2013). Paton Fellows must write at least one paper to be
published in an internationally recognised peer-reviewed academic
journal. The subject of each Fellow's research can address any
aspect of philosophy of religion but it should be written from a
non-western perspective. Fellows will be required to acknowledge
the William Paton Trust and the John Hick Centre in any publications
that arise out of the time spent at Birmingham.

The Paton Fellowship is non-stipendiary, however all travel expenses,
accommodation and subsistence costs will be covered by the
Fellowship for the entire period of stay.

Applicants must have a PhD in philosophy, theology or religious
studies with a record of research and publications in philosophy of
religion commensurate with their experience. We welcome
applications from both junior and senior scholars.

Application should include:
1. Up-to-date CV.
2. Research proposal of no more than 500 words.
3. One-page statement concerning how visiting the John Hick Centre
   will benefit both the centre and the applicant. Please specify in
   which of the above two periods you wish to stay at Birmingham.
4. Two academic references (They should be sent by the referees
   themselves.)
