We invite applicants for a Mellon Sawyer Seminar Post-Doctoral
Fellowship related to the topic of “Political Will,” awarded for the
one-year period beginning July 2014. The fellowship offers a stipend
of $45,000/year. While in residence at Cornell, the Mellon Fellow
will hold a department affiliation in one of the humanities
departments, participate in all activities associated with the Sawyer
Seminar on “Political Will,” have limited teaching duties, and have
the opportunity for scholarly work. The Sawyer Seminar Fellow will
participate in a weekly Sawyer seminar and teach one seminar for the
host department related to the theme.

We welcome proposals that emphasize the perspectives of democracy,
constitutionalism, or cosmopolitanism. Applicants are welcome from
all fields. We especially seek candidates who work from a comparative
or cross-cultural perspective. Prospective applicants should complete
their degree in the humanities no later than June 2014 and no earlier
than August 2010.
