For its research programme on Global Governance and Democratic
Government the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies is
currently recruiting a researcher with specific expertise in
political philosophy. The successful candidate will work closely
together with a team of researchers coming from different
disciplinary backgrounds. The project investigates the
democratisation of global governance, with a specific focus on issues
of democratic representation, global institutions and the provision
of global public goods.

The Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, an interdisciplinary
research centre of excellence of the Humanities and Social Sciences
at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven), initiates and encourages
research initiatives in relation to globalization, global governance
processes and multilateralism. The Centre hosts 30 full-time
researchers and has a network of 70 senior and junior members
throughout the University.

Project

a. You conduct doctoral research in political philosophy under the
supervision of one of the philosophy professors who are involved in
the project and who are members of the KU Leuven political philosophy
reseach group, Research in Political Philosophy Leuven (RIPPLE).

b. You are part of an ambitious, interdisciplinary research project
studying the democratisation of global governance.

c. You contribute to the current and future research activities of
the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies.

d. You will be part of an exciting new and dynamic interdisciplinary
research Centre near Brussels which brings together young academic
talent from across the globe.

Profile

a. You obtained a master in philosophy at a leading University with
excellent results; you have a clear and demonstrable interest in
political philosophy or political theory.

b. You have demonstrable experience in global governance,
globalisation, and/or democratic theory (through an additional
degree, publications, master thesis, practical experience etc).

c. You have excellent knowledge of English and preferably also French
and German (English writing samples may be requested), as well as
good presentation skills.

d. You are able to organize your own research activities while
working as part of an interdisciplinary research team; you are able
to handle various tasks at the same time while keeping strict
deadlines.

e. You are able to efficiently use the most important Microsoft
Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Offer

We offer an employment as full-time researcher starting in October
2014 for 1 year, renewable up to four years.
