It is my pleasure to announce that the Buddhist Studies Program in
the Department of Religion at Florida State University is pleased to
invite applications for a one-year Sheng Yen Postdoctoral Fellowship
in Chinese Buddhist Studies. The term of the appointment is from
August 16, 2016 to May 1, 2017, with the possibility of renewal for

About the Fellowship

With the generous support of the Sheng Yen Educational Foundation,
the Fellowship intends to advance the academic careers of outstanding
young scholars whose area of research is Buddhism in China.
Preference will be given to applicants whose work also addresses
Chinese Buddhism’s historical interactions with other religious
traditions and in other regions, including but not limited to South,
East, Central, and Inner Asia. The Fellowship will provide them with
time and funding to pursue their research along with the opportunity
to gain teaching experience. Fellows are expected to teach one
undergraduate course and one graduate course during the academic year
under the Buddhist Studies Program at FSU. In addition, Fellows will
give one public talk on their research as part of the Sheng Yen
Lecture Series in Chinese Buddhist Studies, and they are expected to
take part in regular Buddhist Studies events and workshops.

Salary and benefits will be competitive. An equal opportunity
employer, the Florida State University is committed to hiring and
supporting faculty who can contribute to our development of a
culturally diverse community through teaching, research, and
scholarship.
