How can Buddhism help us to face global challenges? How can we
approach the precious legacy of traditional contemplative practices,
making proper use of the tools available today?

With Dharma Today, the Italian Buddhist Union intends to take a
symbolic and pragmatic step towards the world of university research,
with the dual aim of promoting the academic study of Buddhist
traditions and nourishing the sectors of research most relevant to
global challenges, helping to open up new paths towards well-being
and sustainability.

The conference will host a multidisciplinary and multi-perspective
reflection on the identity, roles and potential of Buddhist
traditions in the contemporary world, starting from the sociological
and doctrinal transformations brought about by the encounter with the
modern West.

The role of Buddhism in the dissemination of meditation practices and
its contribution to scientific research will be explored, with
special reference to the field of Contemplative Studies.

Finally, Dharma Today aims at initiating a reflection on the
contribution of Buddhist thought to contemporary philosophy, ethics,
climate change and other critical issues in the complex relationship
between human beings, technology and the environment.

The Conference is aimed primarily at academics, students and
researchers, although it will be open to the general public. No
registration required. Simultaneous translation from/to English and
Italian.
