hehah!

i love the jarring moments on the Particles & Waves record; it's like "oh, you thought you knew where this was going to go, but no!". i tend to really enjoy it when bands throw things out of kilter, and you're left saying "where did that come from?"

but i certainly can see where it could be neat to tone down or eliminate the noisier parts on there, if you are in a certain mood, and/or for sleeping purposes ;)

take care, Cyndi

Subject: [inthenight] Chop Job on Particles & Waves

It's funny, I had to do a chop job on P&W.  It's so soft-electronic, the "garage band" after Vanishing Point was jarring.  (Not to mention "Every Town" sounds like a different band.  I cut that, too.)  I ended up with this track listing feeling really good.  Give it a try if you are interested and have the software handy.  I think it flows a lot better.  (Also did one of Future songs simply removing the jarring track 8 so I can sleep to it.)  Maybe I was a producer in another life - heh.

Actually, I'd post Mp3s of it... but you'll each have to send me a scan of your receipt for the album. ;^D

Cranes - Particles & Waves (Adrian's Edit):

Particles & Waves
Avenue A
Vanishing Point (with garage-band ending cut)
Far From the City
K56
Streams
Astronauts
Here Comes the Snow (with fade out at 3 minutes removing 30 seconds of the noise - and back in creating a "coda")
Light Song

------

Thoughts?

Adrian
