I'm in the process of switching from ion2 to ion3 (latest Darcs build) and I noticed a very strange problem when starting up emacs (in windowing mode) under ion3 -- emacs hangs for about ten seconds before it becomes usable. I'm using the term "hangs" loosely -- the display does change a bit but it acts like it's in slow motion. This doesn't happen in ion2. My emacs version is 21.4.1. Has anyone else noticed this, and does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
