Yes, I see it occasionally.
I think the square mouse cursor appears when Ion is expecting a keypress, either in kpress_waitrel or when you're using submaps and ion is waiting for the submap's keypress. I assumed that it was a problem with my configuration: that somewhere in my config files I had overlapping kpress's and submaps or some such like, which I assumed was confusing ion. Thought experiment: what happens if DEFAULT_MOD+"Enter" is both toggle full screen and starts a submap?
Since you can get rid of the square cursor by hitting Escape, and I thought it was my fault, I didn't investigate any further. But if anyone would like me to run some diagnostics when I next see it just tell me what you'd like me to do.
