Hi,

This is an a bit unqualified question by someone who doesn't know a lot of
programming. Since I use ion3 I have wondered why is it so complicated to
configure the statusbar? Wouldn't a different concept have been simplier to use
and to implement?
If the statusbar where just a special frame with something like a 1-line-shell
running, where a normal shell script could be executed, it would be much easier
to configure... One could maybe even split it to have a second area where cat
is listening to a fifo and displays coments send to it (e.g. the songtitle from
xmms etc).

It seems to me that this wouldn't need as much additional code to implement
this special kind of frame as the statusbar now did, but as I said, I don't
know much programming and I especially don't know anything about ion's source
code. This question has been bugging me for some time.

Don't missunderstand me, I discovered ion ca year ago and never used gnome
again, it's great.

/Matthias
