Hello guys,

We had fun playing around with IoTivity on a new idea called Mobility Manager.

We extended IoTivity to allow it to store and retrieve resource configurations.
The main use-cases are related to moving devices from one IoT system to another
one, and avoiding their reconfiguration. Also, devices that lose configuration
after a power-down can use this. The overall goal is to improve user experience
when dealing with different types of resources.

With the Mobility Manager, when a resource is configured, the configuration is
stored in a remote database. We implemented the database as a cloud service,
but other implementations are also possible. When a new resource is detected by
an IoTivity server, any existing configurations are retrieved from the database
and used. This eliminates the resource reconfiguration, and makes the transfer
easier.

Mobility Manager is implemented in the IoTivity server. We filmed a video of it
managing the configuration of a Philips HUE lightbulb that you can see here:
http://iot.mobil4.org/iotivity. This use-case is simple, but we have others in
the pipeline.

I'll be glad to receive any feedback you have.

Thanks,
George
