Hey, I believe there is some issue with Remote Access on the Master Branch. Like you mentioned the connection to the Remote Server does not get established <The JID doesn't print to console>.
I did however get the Remote Access Sample to work on the branch : origin/remote-access2 using an XMPP sever (ejabberd).
