Dwarka,

To tag onto this email thread, can we also discuss nominating a new maintainer
for the cloud sub-project? My vote is for Ondrej Tomcik and he hasn’t gotten
any pushback on the mailing lists about being given that position, but there
also hasn’t been any progress in several weeks. While I’m not personally
interested in becoming the maintainer, I do have a vested interest in the
progress of that sub-project. Is there some formal process/paperwork that must
be performed in order to make progress in this endeavor?

Regards,
Scott

Hi Dongjoo,

Platform maintainer has already resigned. Check attached email. IoTivity is
open for new nomination to take care of platform(s) as per below process –

Selection of Maintainers, Architects and Leaders
Exactly one Maintainer and Architect is selected for each Project. Similarly,
exactly one Leader is selected for each Function. Therefore, a new Maintainer,
Architect or Leader can be selected only for areas where there currently is no
one at that position.
A candidate for the Maintainer role should be one of the Contributors who has
done work in that Project for some time and has shown characteristics
consistent with the requirements of the Maintainer role.
The selection process should be achieved by consensus of the affected parties,
such as Contributors active in that Project, Maintainers and Architects of
other Projects, etc. If consensus cannot be achieved, the IoTivity Steering
Group will make the decision and all decisions must be ratified by the IoTivity
Steering Group.
In the case of a Maintainer vacancy, the Lead Architect works with the
developer community to make a recommendation to the IoTivity Steering Group for
a replacement. The IoTivity Steering Group is responsible for approving the
recommendation.
In the case of a sub-maintainer vacancy, the Maintainer is responsible for
finding a replacement (if needed) and informing the Lead Architect first, then
the IoTivity Steering Group and the developer community. As in all matters, the
IoTivity Steering Group has the right to reject a sub-maintainer for cause.

Dwarka

Dear IoTivity members,

The code contribution for supporting iotivity under webOS is now complete and
ready to go.
The links for details are listed below for your reference.

- JIRA:
https://jira.iotivity.org/projects/IOT/issues/IOT-2967?filter=allopenissues

- Gerrit: https://gerrit.iotivity.org/gerrit/#/c/23935/

- Wiki: https://wiki.iotivity.org/webos

I wonder if the maintainer for OS area is now available to review and approve
the codes.
If not, I would like to formally ask the leadership/ISG to appoint Seokhee Lee
from LGE CCed to the sub-maintainer for webOS so that he can do final review
and have the code included in the next official release.

BR,
Dongjoo Kim.

Dear Dongjoo,

ISG members are also part of dev mailing list. They are watching your email,
hence don’t worry about how to communicate with ISG.
If there is no objection from community to your request, you can share further
plan with community and leadership will step in as on required.

Dear Uze,

Thank you very much for your feedback.

As you can see in the previous email thread, Dan already said that he can’t
help with this topic for the time being.
Thus, I guess assigning a sub-maintainer would be the only option left.
The developer from LGE(Seokhee Lee), CCed, could be a good candidate.
I would like to ask iotivity members if there is any objection on this proposal.

Do I have to formally ask this to ISG?

Hi Dongjoo,

This is up to the platform maintainer who is currently Dan Mhai.
He can place the sub maintainer for specific OS if he do not have the knowledge.
If he is not responding for this request or there is an issue to escalate,
ISG may have the responsibility to resolve the situation.
I believe this process will resolve your concern.

LGE is currently contributing on the iotivity code to support webos and needs

1) IoTivity maintainers review the code LGE contributed and approve, or

2) IoTivity assigns LG developer to the sub-maintainer in webos area so
that we can review the code by ourselves.

Dear OpenSource WG members,

As many of you may be already aware, LGE is currently contributing on the
iotivity code to support webos.
I have reached out to some iotivity leadership to proceed, but not received any
feedback yet.
Could anybody from OSWG please help us to make this happen?

FYI, we have recently updated the wiki to add the information about webos.
https://wiki.iotivity.org/webos

I look forward to hearing your feedback asap.

@ Dan, thank you for responding.

If no more appropriate resources for reviewing the code related to webOS are
available in IoTivity at this moment, LG’s engineer is willing to take a role
as a sub-maintainer.
The candidate for the role is Seokhee Lee (and if possible, Sungmok Shin would
like to be co-sub-maintainer).

Can anyone in recipients provide a way how to register him or them as
sub-maintainer in IoTivity?

Dongjoo Kim.
