iperf-3.8 has a regression in its build system, where it's not capable of installing shared libraries. Unfortunately I didn't discover this until after announcing the release, when I was working on the FreeBSD package. I have a fix (I think) in hand (see #1013). A 3.8.1 point-fix release will address this, probably within the next day or so. Thanks, and sorry for any inconvenience this causes. Bruce.
