Don't assume ... test in your environment. If the Sun version does what you need then stick with it. In our case it didn't, so we installed (and ended up patching) ipfilter from the source code. Currently we are successfully running pfil 2.1.6 / ipfilter 4.1.7 on our Solaris 10 x86 boxes.
