Hi.

I currently have FreeBSD 4.11 installed, with IPF built into kernel, however
its an old 3.x version,
and I would like to upgrade to the latest 4.1.x version. I started with this
last week and ran into
many errors with the src, and building.

I then checked the mailing lists and saw that there were patches for FreeBSD
4.x for IPF 4.1.11.
Which builds fine. My problem comes in with the kinstall script. It tries to
patch various source
files, and they all fail, or dont exist. I even looked at the patch-diffs
myself, and saw they were
comparing files from 95/96.

So now, I would like to know, if I already have a kernel config with IPF built
into it. What exactly
would be the procedure to upgrading my IPF to 4.1.11 then? Cause the kinstall
script just looks
outdated and all the src files totally mismatch the patches.

Regards
/Cole

Have you had a look at the FreeBSD handbook?

ipf.html
