You mean: on the Solaris i86pc platform, for the i386 ISA?
That is an important distinction, especially on Solaris!

Yes, that is correct. That switch is illegal on the i86pc platform.
It should not affect compilation, but the cause of the problem should be
removed (-xcode=abs32).

reading through the manual pages of the product.
