Hello, I had a strange problem today on a Sun Solaris x86 05/09. The machine has one public ethernet and one private one, ipfilter runing various rules with no problem until this morning. I was no more able to ping the gateway. Once ipfilter was disabled, I could ping again. (it worked with ipfilter enabled for months) Then I discovered in /var/adm/messages that yesterday, around 19:30, some techinician was working on the public DMZ, and he used by mistake my same public IP, then after some minutes everything went ok (he probably discovered the problem and changed IP). I had to completely restart the machine to make it work again. Looks like ipfilter had some kind of memory of this event, because bringing down ipfilter I could reach everything, but once up I had no way to go out with that IP. Infact I also noticed that, having a second public IP on the same machine being natted and bimapped to an internal machine, everything going through the secondary IP was working. Any clue? How could I clean this memory withour rebooting? Gabriele. -= Mail sent through WebTop2 =-
