Although I experienced no problems updating iTunes to 10.5 and then my iPhone 4 to IOS 5.0, now when I attempt to sync the phone (by plugging into my iMac, as I've always done) iTunes usually freezes. The phone appears under Devices and the circling arrow that designates syncing begins, and then it stops, and my cursor becomes the colorful spinning disk. If I disconnect the phone, iTunes immediately becomes unfrozen. Plug it back in, it freezes again. Close and re-open iTunes app, freezes. Restart my iMac, plug in phone, freeze.

Finally, I restarted my computer with iPhone left plugged in to USB. This time the sync process proceeded as it always used to. Anyone encountered this? Theories and conjectures solicited.
