I'm trying to develop an app similar to Urbanspoon or Yelp. Does anyone know how these are done? I'm talking specifically about the static map interaction - rather than going to Safari or Google Maps I bring a static map into my app with clickable markers.
More to the point: - Is this being done on a View layer? - How are touch actions being captured? - I assume that geo data for locations is kept in a separate database and added to the http call when retrieving the map. Is this correct? I don't need full answers here. Links would be great. I've been poring over this group for hours and can't find the answers for this particular scenario.
