You are certainly allowed to create an alternative group, but I encourage folks to ask their iPad questions here. There is so much overlap between iPhone and iPad (for example the question just asked about touch events.). I know that many of the most frequent posters here are very interested/involved in iPad and will be more than happy to answer iPad questions. I don't think there is any danger in the iPad questions overwhelming the group and crowding out other questions or creating too much noise.
