There has never been an official release of split-screen mode. The best place (that I know of) to look at split-screen code is here: https://github.com/mikhailxu/Mashboard
Split screen mode aka iuiPad is still a work-in-progress, but the changes I made for Mashboard are probably the best version of it yet. There is some ongoing discussion on the iui-developers Google Group about an updated roadmap and split-screen/tablet support will be part of that. If you are interested in participating, please introduce yourself on that list.
