I meant to break silence earlier, but I forgot all about it
Are you sure this feature is supported by these "cards", this type,
version of firmware etc.?
It would also help to share name of the vendor, type/model of these
cards. You might get more replies that way.

Also, setting channel access(interesting it's stuffed under LAN access
in ipmitool) on/off doesn't mean it gets really turned on/off. IPMI
stack vendor implementation can have just a dummy function for that
which in a fact does nothing.
