Terry, Yes.. that's the kicker.. in the 'real' world a lot of companies and clients are behind firewalls that use NAT either hardware or software based (some even use proxies - which we won't go there now). Even basic internet service, WAN (routable) LAN (non-routable), ip addresses are NAT. I guess IPSwitch got confused at to what NAT actually is.. at least it appears that way. Try just entering your actual domain name, minus the www stuff in the NAT gateway.. something like example.com and click ok.. then run the server software.. .then stop/restart the server software.. then click ok.. then re-run the server software again. ugh.. maybe it'll light up. For the clients you will however need to add the registry 'hack' to them to get them to maintain a connection. If not then for some reason the server software during a noop either 1) discovers that the client is actually inactive and then terminates the connection, or 2) just plain disconnects the client. A bug without out doubt.. or ill feature at best. Another strange 'goober' type of activity is the auto discovery of all adapters and ip's assigned to them via the im server. That setup should have been simply required of the admin to enter.. I could go on and on ..
