Well, when I am having a conversation my focus remains in the panel
below the conversation window where I am typing.

That's what I am saying in fact. I am typing and a message comes in
but I have to stop typing - move my cursor to the upper window - and
either use the slider or expand it. In mine just moving the cursor to
the window does nothing. But even if it did that still interrupts the
flow of the conversation.

I should be able to see the last message while I am typing without
having to do anything special.
