I'm finding that github seems to silently discard e-mails. The mailing list is set up to automatically accept posts originating from github's notification sender addresses. This works; any pull requests will result in a message to the mailing list, but any e-mails sent back to github seem not to show up in the pull request comments. The intention was to allow github users to interact solely via the pull request comment section, but that can't work if github is going to just silently discard e-mails. Unless github fixes this, it's going to remain the case that pull requests are used only to generate an initial mail to the list.
