There are three problems with the tg3 driver on our Dell R820s using BCM5720s: 1) Link is rarely detected 2) System crashes and reboots every time in tg3_transmit() 3) No frames of any type are ever received
The following patches "fix" these problems. I tested them on said R820 (which stably works via PXE, getting large kernels/initrds over HTTP, etc.) and an Optiplex 745 with BCM5745 (which suffered no regressions in my tests).
