Michael- I am not that sure about which story is correct or not correct. I have heard a bunch of them over the years. Including the one about the cows. It reminds me of the stories about the navy putting in VLF equipment in the Michigan upper peninsula. The station used buried antenna and runs a billion or so, watts. It is said to kill the trees and cows. Don't really know for sure.

There was an experimental license issued for the 500 KW transmitter that was at the same facility (I think). The 500 KW and 50 KW transmitters both operated, but not concurrently. I believe they both aired the WLW programming though. The 500 KW experimental license went the way of the two-dollar bill. If I remember, there were a lot of complaints of livestock turning into deadstock from the high RF levels. > > Mike Hawkins > _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://arizona.hard-core-dx.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
