And speaking of rich...to get back to the question of why KZSB 1290, a commercial station, was carrying BBC news, it's because the station is the playtoy of one of Santa Barbara's richest and most eccentric people, Wendy McCaw, owner (unfortunately) of the Santa Barbara News-Press. Google her, if you're interested, to learn more about this very interesting woman and what she's done to what was once a fairly decent paper.
