This is a decent ways south of DC and definately north of my DF to the tones from here near Chicago. That being said, I certainly cannot claim the my DF's are accurate enough to rule this out.
So I am asking anyone on these lists the following. If you live in the VA/MD vicinity and took some good DF's are you able to most definately state that the direction was no where near Bowling Green ? 73 KAZ ----- Original Message ----- From: Les Rayburn To: NRC AM List ; IRCA ; ABDX Sent: Thursday, December 07, 2006 1:22 PM Subject: [NRC-AM] Mystery Signal on 1020khz & 1610khz Despite the denials from BAE Systems received by Glenn Hauser, I have reasons to doubt that story. In addition to my own sources, it's hard to deny that the STA requests mirrors the activity observed on the air in nearly every detail. It's possible that the engineer listed on the STA request is unaware of the current tests, as BAE Systems is a very large company with multiple government contracts. I wonder if Jim would be willing to produce plots of the DF bearings with the Bowling Green, VA location highlighted somehow? According to the original STA request submitted for BAE Systems, the transmitter location was to be: Bowling Green, VA Lat: North 38 7 59 West 77 19 49 Until I hear something to the contrary, I think this explanation is the best one.
