During DXpeditions, sometimes things get real slow. So, I have started keeping track of occasions when I hear stations playing songs by Gordon Lightfoot. I invite any and all of you to allow this Canadian folk icon, who probably has very little time to scan his AOR, to DX vicariously through your sets.
Here are results from this past weekend. Hope you find them helpful. Logs are EST from Burnt River ON: 960 CFFX ON Kingston - 11 Feb 0709 - Sundown Skip. Strong signal. (SC-ON) 1580 CKDO ON Oshawa - 11 Feb 1649 - If You Could Read My Logbook. Ex-1350, really dominating the channel but some hint of stations underneath, including presumed Shelbyville TN, which might have Lightfoot on its playlist because there is some country-ish crossover. (SC-ON) 1580 CKDO ON Oshawa - 12 Feb 2116 - Wreck of the Russ Edmund Fitgerald. Pretty well alone on the channel Lightfoot conditions -- well, rather lightweight this time around. Hope for improvements, as well as some diversity in the songbook, next time. -- Saul Chernos (who worked for three years as a reporter at the daily Packet and Times newspaper in Mr. Lightfoot's hometown of Orillia ON) ____________________________________________________________________________________ No need to miss a message.
