Bill, The "buzz" is a hum and it does sound like a carrier. KWDB is a regular here all day off the WNW EWE. Not very strong but listenable. Not bad for 500w at 200 miles. According to one earlier DJ I spoke with at KWDB some years ago, it was being held together by chewing gum and bailing wire sort of thing. So the transmitter might be an old timer.
