I was up early and DXed from 1220 until fadeout just before 1400. I had a signal on every non-zero 9 kHz split 1602 and below, except 549, 729, 981 and 1548. The band was about as full as I've ever seen it. China and Korea seemed favored over Japan, which was maybe a bit below average, though not much. Some of the Chinese signals were monsters, as were some of the Koreans.
The more interesting: 621, presumed Heilongjiang PBS was booming in. Its been one of the stronger Chinese this year, seemingly more so than past years. New tx? Conversely, so far, 1206 (now seemingly permanently low) the CNR Korean Service also from Manchuria seems way down from the past several years. Propagation.... transmitters, hummmmm? 675 was clearly Viet Nam, but not as strong as a couple of days ago. 774 Japan was doing quite well, but the CNR1 Service// 5030 was almost its equal. 837 A CNR1 Service that I've never heard before, even at Grayland (PAL lists it in the coastal South) was doing fairly well all morning. //5030 918, presumed CNR2 with the usual echos of multi but far-flung transmitters was in well, but was not // 3985, which I sometimes use as the //. The PAL listed SW//s were not on or did not propagate here. 945 presumed CNR1 was absolutely not // to 5030 or the others until 1300 (9:00 PM local at tx) when it joined 5030 and the others for the presumed news. 1017 presumed a CNR Korean Service was booming in from Manchuria, but beneath it, clear as a bell, was the Christmas hymn "Silent Night," in EE. About the only culprit that I see in PAL that makes sense is DXAM in Davao City, which is an evangelical station. Gonna send them a tentative report and ask if they keep a Play List. 1269 was quite active, with possibly the HBC repeaters on Hokkaido and a CC station. 1377 was //5030 throughout the AM. 1440 JOWF did fairly well most of the morning. 1575 VOA, of course, but I've noticed a carrier about 50 Hertz low for several mornings, possibly with a growl on it. I wonder if someone is trying to jam VOA. Those were the highlights of a very busy morning. Bruce has indicated that he is doing a major revision of the Chinese listings for the next PAL update. I really look forward to that, as it seems that the national network scene in PRC has gotten more complex in the past year or so. No big surprise, I guess.
