Bernz-O-Matic makes (or made?) a copper wedge-shaped soldering tip that goes on the end of their usual torch, fastened with a set screw. The flame hits the bottom of the copper and heats it and vents out four holes in the side of the attachment. It probably equals or exceeds a 250w plug-in iron. More than enough to solder a couple of #10 wires together. Unless you are soldering right on the ground in dry grass, the fire hazard is quite minimal. It shows on this item for sale on eBay, right in the middle of the case. http://cgi.ebay.com/BERNZ-O-MATIC-TORCH_W0QQitemZ170191385317QQihZ007QQcategoryZ111477QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Craig Healy Providence, RI _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
