Hi Konnie Hi Konnie I live in the Toronto area and consider myself to be in the east. My experiences have been the opposite of yours.
When there are tests (some of which occur in the east) there is a lot of traffic on this list. People reporting what they're hearing or not hearing. I'm saddened that you write off Ultralight radios as unimportant chatter. DXing is DXing regardless of the equipment. Rob Ross in London ON has become an avid ultralight DXer and has an impressive list of catches. Not only does he report what he's heard, but when there are openings he's quick to report them as they're happening. I've been able to make use of his tips. It's unfortunate that the times when you've been able to check the list mail didn't correspond to activity in the east. I've found the list messages to be quite helpful.
