Reading the thread on KOLD-1425 with interest. I'm probably one of the
few NA dxers who have heard this station nightly. In 1955-56 while
stationed at Keflavik AFB, Iceland KOLD was almost always there with a
decent signal. Also heard another AFRTS station on 1594 from French
Morocco with regularity. From California in the 1976-78 period I
remember I had a good het on 1425 a few nights when others on the WC
were hearing the station but I never had audio. We had a 250 watt AFRTS
station at Keflavik, called TFK operating on 1484. Don't remember
seeing anyone reporting that one.

I think you are right. A lot of DXing is being at the right place at the
right time. I remember when I was at the dials all of my free time back
20-30 yeard ago, I heard a lot more stations and I was always there to
catch that rare opening. I still DX a lot but not as much as I did then.
Any of you guys going after a QSL? The last I heard Greenland did QSL.
