Brandon, How wet is your soil? With a EWE, I feel the more ground the better? A 4 foot rod is not enough, other than test a EWE. I would use at least two 5 foot rods at each end. I have 3-4 for the permanent EWEs and sometimes more. The better the grounding, the deeper the nulls on adjusting my pots. I still like a pot over a fixed resistor as I can peak it depending on the change in the water table. I have used EWEs since I built my first one in 1981 (which I still have). Put in the best ground you can as EWEs love them. But if you cannot, try a K9AY, KAZ, or other antennas that do not require a ground.
