Thanks Pete, This was an easy catch here in Puyallup (WA) on a stock Tecsun PL-300WT, and an 8' passive loop (with a PVC frame) in my back yard. It was booming in with the loop, but inaudible with just the stock PL-300WT. Normally 540 kHz is a dicey frequency here in Puyallup because of images from local KSUH-1450 on the frequency, which dominate on the Eton E100, C.Crane SWP and other 455 kHz IF portables. The new PL-300WT has apparently solved the AM image issue completely, with no trace of locals anywhere except on their assigned frequencies. Its DSP-enhanced selectivity also makes it great to use with high-gain external antennas, which tend to overload portables of lesser quality. 73, Gary In a message dated 6/16/2009 4:08:57 P.M. 540 WQIH850 WA Burien. First noted today on an airport run. Subsequently heard 20 miles north of Seattle; after that, heard all the way down I-5 to 348th St. and from there all the way home to NE Tacoma. It is readable in my driveway. This is one of the most potent TIS outlets I have ever noted. Burien is next to SeaTac both physically and on the dial (530). Short squibs about city activities and frequent stand-alone IDs. Pat, Steve and Gary, you might shoot for this one.
