The recording linked below has the PL-380 receiving 738-Taiwan at 1443 UTC, in the face of some splatter from 740-KCBS in San Francisco. The MP3 starts with the PL-380 on the 2 kHz setting (for the best combination of audio and selectivity), then steps briefly down to 1 kHz-- followed by approximately 5 seconds in the 6 kHz, 4 kHz, 3 kHz, 2 kHz and finally the 1 kHz DSP filter options. This recording was made with a signal boost provided by an experimental 9' sided PVC box loop. _http://www.mediafire.com/?mnznomi5zwj_ (http://www.mediafire.com/?mnznomi5zwj) The recording is dramatic in showing the effectiveness of the 7434 DSP chip in providing outstanding selectivity (for a $45 radio). Hopefully it will be of interest to prospective purchasers. 73, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA) _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
