Definitely a better morning, as Bill has noted. This was one where the longer you stuck at it, the more DX appeared, because there was a a lot of short term fades up...so, lively, but erratic, and mostly low band. Last night around 0700 there was no sign of sunset enhancement, so this was a pleasant surprise. Listened around 1355, 1430-1500, and a bit around 1530UT
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 279 R. Rossii 567 JOIK //594 (and stronger than 594); this at 1455UT 594 JOAK 747 JOIB 774 JOUB 828 JOBB (though by 1454UT, this was getting unstable, and a man talking heard fading up through it) reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 639 CNR-1 //4460 837 CC talk by man at 1436UT 972 likely HLCA 1566 HLAZ at 1529; finally, the monster carrier delivers not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker 558 rap mx, more likely JOCR? 576 RR talk by woman, but something else there also, at 1358UT 666 JOBK //594 at 1459UT, but heard earlier with a big carrier, and man talking, not //594 936 possibly Anhui 945 CNR-1 //4460 at 1451UT 1134 S. Korea //972 at 1450UT 1287 likely JOHR at 1444UT 1503 JOUK //567 at 1456UT 1575 SE Asian talk by woman, likely VoA Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) : 531 JOQG //594 at 1443UT 585 JOPG //594 621 sounded like CC talk by woman, and weak CC style pips at 1400; another station there also? 675 likely Vietnam, 1528UT 738 unID 846 might have been a couple of stations, one seemed parallel to 594 864 unID 918 China? 981 seemed //4460 in the splash, if so, CNR-1 1035 maybe weak CC pips at 1500UT 1386 mx, didn't seem parallel to 828 or 4460 Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 603, 657 off channel (N. Korea?) best wishes, Nick * ********** Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, BC Canada _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
